Vive la difference! We’re all for the pleasures of adult carnal knowledge, but this is getting ridiculous.

The investigation into the activities of former Laborers Local 500 official Steven Thomas indicates Thomas’ strong affinity to naked female flesh flaunted for cash at strip clubs, even during his appointed term to the Toledo School Board in 2005. But, bouncing naked boobies made even more news in local circles recently.

The use of local strippers as “hospitality girls” by the B-Team Dems at a golf outing fundraiser has made national and international headlines. Local Ds from Councilman Joe McNamara to Treasurer Wade Kapszukiewicz have called for a purge at the top, demanding the heads of Chair John Irish and his hired gun, Exec Direc Dom Montalto. Irish has apologized for poor discretion in the matter.

Irish had a decisive response to outrage over the use of sex-workers at the event, stating he thinks he might not approve of it, probably. He also said volunteers were recruited from internal Party lists, begging the question, what have these pole dancers volunteered for in the past?

Apologies from Irish have a certain hollow ring. He was accused of sexual harassment as a member of the delightful Ray Kest’s office back in 1991. He settled for $10,000. Montalto, political dirty-trickster and another veteran of that bastion of morality and civic-mindedness that was the Kest contingent, was reportedly heard making sexist jokes at the event. Another non-surprise, given his pedigree.

Irish gets a little testy when pressed on the matter. But we see this as one more piece in a pattern of questionable and sleazy behavior by former FOKers (Friends of Kest). Councilman Joe Birmingham once served in Kest’s office, remember, which might explain his social grace and light touch with the fairer sex. Ooops, we mean lack thereof.

Lose the club and animal skin, wipe the bat guano off their feet and dress ‘em up in suits, all to no avail. Once a troglodyte, always a troglodyte. You can take the boy out of the Paleolithic, but you can’t take the Paleolithic out of the boy.

You lookin’ at me, punk?

Judge Robert Christiansen revoked the probation of Shane Leu because, in the Judge’s esteemed words, Leu was trying to stare him down. “That doesn’t work,” Christiansen warned.

Christiansen was a County Appeals Court judge for 22 years before an unsuccessful run at the State appeals bench. Rather than slip gracefully into retirement he ran for Municipal court in 2005, beating the split Dem ticket of Samuel Nugent and Daniel Pilrose.

What is it with these judges? A defendant makes eye contact and you get all antsy? Aren’t there armed deputies in the room to handle such willful acts of violence as looking at the judge?

Then there’s Christiansen’s “doesn’t work” crack. Will the Dems get with it and post one viable candidate and beat him next time he’s up for election? An appeals court ruled this episode an abuse of power by Christiansen. Will voters remember that fact and put him out of work permanently? Or, like most of these judicial goofballs, will he just keep popping back up?

Allison, my aim is true

A press release from the Lucas County Democratic Women Activists (you can see it at glasscityjungle.com) announced plans for a picket line protest at Dem headquarters, calling for the ouster of Montalto, Irish and a total boycott of the party. One of the organizers is Allison Dow, president of the UT College Democrats, who was quoted in the release, “ ...Anyone who crosses the line and enters headquarters is taking ownership of the scandal and will be held accountable at the ballot box.” Obviously, Ms. Dow is furious at the disgusting and immoral antics at her fellow Dems...but then what about this picture from her Myspace page? A T-shirt reading ‘Blondes Do it Better,’ sandwiched between two dudes — we smell a rat. Suspiciously, the pic has now been removed from her Myspace page. Friends, be careful what your put up on those sites. You never know when Johnny’s watching you.
